Chris Jarvis
Managing Director

I started my accountancy career at the very bottom of an accountancy practice. I worked my way up through the firm, qualifying as a Chartered accountant in 2015, before making the move to start up on my own with Jarvis Accountancy. The experience of corporate accounting has given me the impetus to work with all my clients personally, offering each of you the time and focus you deserve. Tax-related matters can be a minefield for the uninitiated, and it is my aim to take away that pain point. I can’t guarantee you’ll love tax and accounting by the end of it, but you will feel comfortable in a safe pair of hands.

A major frustration I have come across time and again is how long business owners have to wait for their accounts to be completed. They hand everything over only to hear nothing until perhaps a request for more information months down the line. I am determined to change this attitude and therefore offer my clients a 30 day turnaround time for all accounts, from receipt of the original accounting records.

I can completely relate to business owners. As well as running Jarvis Accountancy, I am closely involved in the running of two other businesses. I know the issues you face and how difficult it can be to try and wear all the hats. But hand over the books, accounts and tax concerns, and you’ll have one less – very large – hat to worry about.

I live in East Sussex with my young family. It helps that I have tons of energy, not only to manage three lively children, but to remain adaptable and enthusiastic. These are vital traits for an accountant as it means I approach your financial matters with the same vigour. New business types are constantly emerging along with methods of managing business accounts. My adaptability means I keep abreast of current systems and I’m always looking for ways to improve my service, including embracing new and emerging technologies.

Jarvis Accountancy offers both general accounting services to save you time, money and hassle, as well as a host of extra services, such as management accounts. Take a look at the Services page to find out more. There’s a lot more to Jarvis Accountancy than just tax returns!

Ben Mason
Accounts Assistant

My Accountancy career started in 2016 fresh out of college I started as a work experience and my previous firm didn’t want me to leave, five years later I did. I felt that joining a new start up would be a challenge and allow me to really get my teeth into everything that comes with the job. I joined Jarvis Accountancy in July 2021 as their first employee.

I am currently on my final level of AAT and looking toward joining the Chartered qualification once I have finished.

I have an interest in cinema, my partner is currently in the film business, and we like to spend our free time watching all different types of genres of films.

Ben Harvey
Accounts Assistant

After teaching for five years, I have recently moved into accounting and I am excited to use my maths skills practically to problem-solve in my daily work. I am looking forward to improving and expanding my accountancy knowledge as I continue to develop at Jarvis Accountancy. Working for a growing company allows us to be flexible and means that there is always a variety of tasks and challenges that keep my daily workload fresh and interesting. Additionally, using a range of up-to-date software at the company makes potentially confusing and intimidating information much easier to understand and contextualise for both myself and the clients.

Personally, I enjoy trying contemporary and local craft beer and am intrigued by the new, growing local companies that are transforming and evolving the local scene and environment. It is also exciting to work with local businesses that are ambitious and passionate about what they do. I have lived in and around Hastings my whole life and am excited by how the town continues to welcome, change and grow.

Sarah Weeks
Client Manager

I began my career in accountancy in 2008 joining a local firm as a trainee accountant. I qualified as a chartered accountant in 2012 and worked my way up to a client manager position. I enjoy working with local businesses and learning more about them so I can provide support to help them grow.

I am excited to have joined the team at Jarvis Accountancy where I can work closer with clients to provide a more personal service.

Away from work my two young children keep me busy and we enjoy family days out with our dog making the most of the outdoors. When I have time to relax, I enjoy reading and sampling my husband’s latest cooking creations.
